1、序数词：

（1）序数词是指表示顺序的数词，主要应用于英语语法中，在汉语中是表示为“第几”。如果是在生日中，描述你出生的日期时，也会用到序数词。比如：May-first （5月1日）。

（2）序数词也可以用缩写形式来表示。主要缩写形式有：first—1st、second——2nd、third—3rd、fourth—4th、sixth—6th、twentieth—20th、twenty-third—23rd等。

（3）序数词在句中可作主语、宾语、定语和表语。

例如：

作主语The first of october is our national day.

作宾语She likes the second.

作定语Her room is on the fourth floor.

作表语He was the first to come.

2、基数词：

（1）是用来描述事物数量的多少的数词。什么是基数，在数学上的理解是可以比较大小的数字，而英语中的基数词是用于来描述事物数量的多少。

（2）写法为one、two、three、four、five、six、seven、nine、ten、eleven、twelve、thirteen、fourteen、fifteen等。

（3）基数词在句中可作主语、宾语、定语、表语、同位语。

例如：

作主语The two happily opened the box.

做宾语I need three altogether.

作定语Four students are playing volleyball outside.

作表语We are sixteen.

作同位语They three tried to finish the task before sunset.
