美国的数据显示，2016-2021 年，每年因过量饮酒(包括部分和完全归因于酒精的疾病)而死亡的人数平均增加了约 29%，从 2016-2017 年的 137,927 人增加到 2020-2021 年的 178,307 人，年龄标准化死亡率也从每十万人约 38 人增加到 48 人。在此期间，男性因过量饮酒而死亡的人数增加了约 27%，从每年 94,362 人增加到 119,606 人；女性因过量饮酒而死亡的人数增加了约 35%，从每年 43,565 人增加到 58,701 人[5]。
